Welcome again to what will be a SUPER year at Peachland Elementary School! We are excited to see what this year brings as we continually work together to support all students in our school and community.
Elementary will focus on the following school goals throughout this year:
1) To develop a high level of literacy skill acquisition for all
2) To develop positive self-regulation skills/strategies in all students.
By focusing on these goals, we were able to see great improvements in all areas in our 2015/2016 school year. By continuing this focus, and by developing a culture of inquiry, we are looking forward to building on these improvements in 2016/2017.
We are also in an exciting time in our education system by officially launching the BC Ministry of Education's Redesigned Curriculum. This curriculum continues to put emphasis on our curricular areas such as Numeracy and Language Arts. In addition, our teachers will be presenting lessons on the Core Competencies of Communication, Critical & Creative Thinking, and Personal & Social Skills.
Our theme this year will be "The Hero's Journey from Good to Great." All of our greatest heroes were strong learners, and more often than not needed some assistance along their way. Our students are just in the beginning stages of their own "hero's journey" and we are looking forward to helping them become the heroes of tomorrow.
I an excited to
connect with each of you in the weeks and months to come. I wish you
all a HEROIC 2016/2017 school year!
