Principal’s Message

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Peachland Elementary School! As the only school in the beautiful Okanagan community of Peachland, we are a hub of learning very well connected with the community. Our school's learning culture is centered in kindness, where each child is supported in their learning journeys by a caring and dedicated team of teachers and support staff.

Since joining the school as principal in April 2018, I have been so impressed with the heartfelt kindness and welcoming attitude shown to me by students, parents and staff members alike. Since then, several initiatives have been launched to help students contribute to and feel a sense of ownership with the school. They took an active role in creating the new school logo featured on this website. It features our mascot the eagle, reminding all of us that our attitude helps determine our altitude in life. We are following a process centered on the 7 Habits of Happy Kids known as the Leader in Me. Each child is learning to lead themselves wisely by being proactive, beginning with the end in mind and putting first things first. They are also learning to work well with others by seeking to understand as well as being understood, thinking "win-win" and collaborating with each other using synergy. The final habit, "sharpen the saw" reminds them to care for their physical, mental and spiritual health. Students have many leadership roles throughout the school, within an overarching student "Lighthouse Leadership Team".

If you are an existing family here at PLE, I look forward to continuing to work with you to help your child have the best experience possible at this amazing school. If you are a new family in the area, I encourage you to make an appointment to tour the school. I believe in an open-door policy and welcome any feedback and inquiry.

The upcoming school year will begin a little differently, as we are in Stage 2 of the Ministry's response plan. For more information on this plan, please visit the district website at

Kind regards,

Mr. Ross Hett
